the witcher yennefer of vengerberg cosplay

Remember January 2020 roughly 70 years ago when the world was okay and everyone was watching The Witcher on Netflix? It seems like a lifetime ago. I had heard of the games and the books before the show came out, but since I’m only a casual gamer (and I have to play all my other PS4 games first before I can make space for new ones) and I haven’t had time to read all of the books yet. That’s why the Netflix show was my first real contact with the world of The Witcher and I loved it immediately. I am a huge fan of fantasy as a genre, so the show intrigued me instantly and already during the first episode, I was watching out for potential characters to cosplay.

Yennefer of Vengerberg Cosplay

That character soon came along and I fell in love with Yennefer of Vengerberg because she is a badass mage and Anya Chalotra is gorgeous. Although I have cosplayed both Yennefer and Gerald, I will focus on recreating a Yennefer Cosplay on this blog. Most of her outfits are quite difficult and complex, so I tried to figure out a way to make it happen without breaking the bank and settled on the dress she wears in Bottled Appetites. I experimented and improvised a lot with this cosplay, so I’m sharing my progress with you in the hopes of making it easier for you to make your own Yennefer of Vengerberg cosplay.

Cosplaying Yennefer of Vengerberg

I seem to have a special fondness for witches and magicians when I pick a new character to cosplay, so it wasn’t at all surprising that I just had to do a Yennefer cosplay. Putting on her wig and costumes is so much fun, especially since I get to go crazy with Photoshop afterwards and give myself purple eyes. However, since this blog focuses on making the costumes and props happen, let’s have a look at Yennefer’s beautiful coat from Rare Species.

Cirilla “Ciri” of Cintra Cosplay

The Instagram tag is full of marvellous Ciri cosplayers, yet most of them based their cosplay on the game character – you know, the game that I still haven’t played (whoops). While I was already in love with Ciri’s teal coat, I didn’t get the idea to cosplay her until, after what felt like 60 years, the trailer for season 2 finally dropped. When I saw her white, fur-adorned coat/dress, I knew that I had to make it. A few clicks in my favourite fabric shop and a couple of seams later, my Ciri cosplay was born.

Making Ciri’s Training Outfit

Because I can’t sit still and needed a new project, I decided to also make Ciri’s training outfit from The Witcher Season 2. I had made her white dress already when the first trailer dropped, so by the time the second season finally aired, I was in need of another sewing project. Her training outfit seemed an easy one to add to my cosplay collection and I absolutely loved Ciri’s character development in this season, so I thought to myself: Why not?

If you want an easy-to-make and cheap cosplay, Ciri’s training outfit is probably right for you.
